The Tortoise and the Eagle

A tortoise not satisfied with his life when he beheld so many birds disporting themselves in the sky, thought that if once he could get into the air he could sore with the best of them. Calling upon the eagle he tendered him all the wealth of the ocean to teach him to fly. The eagle explained that the task was absurd and impossible, but being further pressed he consented to do his best he could. So taking the tortoise up to a great height he loosed his hold and the tortoise before he could say a word fell plump upon a rock and was dashed to pieces.
